Flame-retardant flexible PVC insulation and sheathing
Jain Chemicals is the authorized distributor of KLJ Group chlorinated paraffin (Kanachlor / KLJ CPW) for the state of Rajasthan, supplying PVC compounders, cable manufacturers, and flooring producers across Jaipur and the state.
KLJ is the world's largest manufacturer of chlorinated paraffin, and we supply the full range of chlorination grades as a secondary plasticizer and flame-retardant additive for flexible PVC applications.
Chlorinated paraffin (also called chlorinated paraffin wax, or CPW) is a secondary plasticizer used alongside primary plasticizers like DOP or DINP in flexible PVC compounds. It's valued for three main reasons: it's significantly cheaper than primary plasticizers, it improves flame retardancy, and it adds heat and light stability to the finished compound. CP is not used alone — it's always blended with a primary plasticizer, typically at a partial-substitution ratio depending on the application.
CP grades are classified by their percentage of chlorination, which typically ranges from 40% to 70%. Higher chlorination generally means better flame retardancy and heat stability but higher viscosity.
| Grade (% Chlorination) | Common Name | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| CP-42 | Low-chlorination CPW | Cost-effective secondary plasticizer for general flexible PVC |
| CP-52 | Mid-chlorination CPW | Most widely used grade — cables, flooring, footwear |
| CP-62 | High-chlorination CPW | Enhanced flame retardancy for cable and flooring compounds |
| CP-70 | Highest-chlorination CPW | Maximum flame retardancy, specialty applications |

Chlorinated paraffin is used as a secondary plasticizer in flexible PVC compounds, typically blended with a primary plasticizer like DOP or DINP. It reduces overall compound cost, improves flame retardancy, and adds heat/light stability.
The number refers to the percentage of chlorination. CP-52 has a higher chlorine content than CP-42, giving it better flame-retardant properties and heat stability, though with slightly higher viscosity. CP-52 is the most commonly used general-purpose grade.
REACH compliance depends on the specific grade and its chain length — short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) face restrictions in several jurisdictions, while medium- and long-chain grades are more widely used. KLJ manufactures REACH-registered and pre-registered grades. Confirm the compliance status of the specific grade with us before use in export-oriented or regulated applications.
